Amazon said it would cut 14,000 corporate staffers this year in a mass layoff aimed at readying the company for wide adoption of AI technology.

CEO Andy Jassy in June signaled that Amazon’s workforce would likely get smaller as the company increases its use of artificial intelligence to complete tasks normally handled by people.

The company didn’t say how many video-game jobs will be cut, but noted in a memo Tuesday that “significant role reductions” would fall on its offices in Irvine and San Diego, as well as its central publishing division.
