Stop using the term “appropriate.” It’s subjective, and our learners pay the price. One teacher allows movement. Another doesn’t. One allows cursing when regulated. Another doesn’t. One allows snacks. Another doesn’t. The issue isn’t “appropriate behavior.” The issue is inconsistency, and how autistic, black-and-white thinkers are punished for rules no one actually states. In one setting, it’s fine. In another, it’s a write-up, a call home, or a suspension. And adults say “you should just know.”
